Mcity, the new 32-acre autonomous vehicle testing environment, opened July 20th on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. This research facility - consisting of city streets, complex intersections, dirt roads, highways, tunnels, and simulated forest covered roads - was established by U-M's Mobility Transformation Center (MTC) in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), and with the support of automotive manufacturers and suppliers, telecommunication companies, and the global insurance industry.
Changan Automobile's long-awaited brand promotional activity, Exploring Legends, officially kicked off in June. On May 7th, Changan Automobile announced its April 2015 cumulative sales. In April, Changan produced 240,872 vehicles and sold 227,257 units, a production increase of 6.09% year-over-year. April sales were up 5.79% versus April 2014. Through April, Changan produced 983,796 units, an increase of 11% compared to the first four months of 2014. Also through April, and with joint venture brands, Changan sold 1,032,015 units - a 16.28% increase versus April 2014 YTD. It is worth noting that this was the first time Changan sales exceeded one million units in the first four months of any year.
As the annual awards ceremony of The Brilliant Chinese came to an end, the Most Brilliant Star was finally chosen. After pressing the "Golden Button," "Offspring of the Yellow River" was awarded the Most Brilliant Star. Aerialist Zhenqi Liu, famous for balancing on 14 chairs stacked in the air, took second place. Then Bing Gong, president of Changan Automobile, presented the prize to "Offspring of the Yellow River."
On March 17, Chinese automotive domestic brand leader - Changan Automobile ushered in its 2015 models of Eado, Eado XT, and CS35 simultaneously. Changan’s best-selling models, Eado and CS35 have sold more than 320,000 and 210,000, respectively, since their 2012 market introductions. Each is now leading its segment.
The “Eado City Action” event in Turin Italy brought over a dozen contestants to our Italian design studios. The contestants were invited to see and experience the craftsmanship and 21st century tools used to create fine automotive designs.
Changan’s January 2015 total sales exceeded 300,000, an increase of 24% over January 2014. Changan passenger cars led Chinese automotive brands with sales of 127,400, a 62% gain. These meteoric sales increases are indicative of Changan’s recent rapid growth, as well as the company’s favorable future potential.
On February 5 , Changan Automobile and Chongqing Nan'an District Sports Bureau signed a title sponsorship agreement, and the fifth Chongqing Changan International Marathon will be held in Chongqing on March 22, 2015 . After achieving sales of 2.54 million in 2014, Changan has entered a new brand building era. The sponsorship of this event is part of this effort, promoting a healthy lifestyle, environmental awareness, and Changan’s brand philosophy.
On January 9, 2015, the 2014 Science and Technology Awards Conference was held by the Chinese Central government in the Great Hall in Beijing. Alongside six other companies, and representing the automotive sector, Changan won the National Science and Technology Progress Award. This award is a testament to Changan’s commitment to the advancement of technology and innovation, and it affirms Changan’s R & D capabilities.
